In the world of childhood and adolescence, play is a fundamental part of development. Children and teenagers have different ways of having fun, and these activities can vary by age and gender.

One of the main sources of entertainment for children and teenagers is playing with toys. According to Askids, the data & insights platform for the U18 segment, 58% of boys and girls in Latin America, aged 3 to 14, enjoy this activity.

It is also revealed that 58% of kids & teens enjoy video games, showcasing the growing influence of technology in their lives. Another 56% of them dedicate time to drawing or painting, indicating a inclination towards creativity, and 43% engage in sports activities while an equal proportion spends time in front of the television.

Children have a strong connection with construction toys. An impressive 56% of children play with building blocks, and 46% have fun with toy vehicles. Additionally, 40% enjoy articulated dolls of characters or animals, and 28% choose sports and electronic toy items as their favorite entertainment activities.

On the other hand, girls lean more towards soft toys and artistic activities. 44% of girls enjoy playing with soft toys, while 43% have fun with crayons, paints, and pencils. Approximately 32% play with building blocks, and 29% engage in articulated dolls of characters or animals. Furthermore, 25% choose puzzles as their form of play.

As children and girls grow older, their play preferences may vary. Between the ages of 11 and 13, boys tend to play more with toys than girls.

It is fascinating to observe that playing with building blocks is popular across different age groups. 46% of children aged 3 to 5 play with blocks, and this figure remains stable for children aged 6 to 10. Blocks are an option that accompanies growth and development in the early years.

As children grow and become teenagers, their relationship with toys evolves. From the age of 9, playing with toys begins to gradually decrease, and the bond with technology grows. However, it is important to note that even in adolescence, many teens continue to collect toys as a special part of their lives.

In summary, play is an essential part of the development of children and teenagers. Their preferences may vary by age and gender, but they all share the joy and creativity that play brings to their lives. Toys, whether blocks, articulated dolls, or video games, remain a vital part of their growth, providing fun and learning throughout their journey to adulthood.
