How are U18 preparing for this Christmas 2023?

Christmas is approaching, and for kids & teens, it means much more than just a feast of gifts. According to data revealed by Askids, the data & insights platform for the U18 segment, 53% of children and teenagers consider Christmas a special occasion to spend time with family.

Family is the main protagonist of this festive season for U18s, who will share moments full of love and joy with mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents, and uncles. It is a time when laughter echoes in every home, and family warmth becomes the most valuable gift.

However, we cannot overlook the excitement of receiving gifts. For 24% of U18s, Christmas is synonymous with opening packages full of surprises. On average, they expect to receive 5 gifts. And what are their wishes?

The undisputed leaders are technological gifts, with an astonishing 53% preference. Electronic devices rub shoulders with toys, which boast a solid 50% interest. Not far behind, fashion also has its place with 38% for clothing and sneakers. Sports enthusiasts eagerly await bikes and sports accessories, with 36%.

Interestingly, money also has its own space under the tree, being a desired gift for 30% of U18s. Books and instruments, although less requested, capture the attention of 22% of kids & teens with an artistic and musical soul.

When we break down preferences by gender, differences are noticeable. Activities related to technology and sports are more popular among boys, while girls lean more towards artistic, musical, and reading pursuits.

At the LATAM level, reflecting on Christmas 2022, it is observed that expectations had a greater impact on positive feelings compared to this year, especially in the 13 to 18 age group.

This Christmas, it is expected that the celebration not only maintains the essence of love and family unity but also surprises our kids & teens with exciting experiences and unforgettable gifts.
