Costumes and electronic toys are children's favorite Christmas gifts

Christmas is coming to shake up and move the retail sector . As the date approaches, children are already preparing to receive their presents, and costumes are the favorite among little ones aged 3 to 5, with 25% of preference. For older children, aged 6 to 12, electronic and digital toys are the most desired, with 22% of choice. This category is also the favorite among teenagers aged 13 to 14, with 19% of preference.

The research was conducted by Kids Corp, a martech company specializing in children and families, which interviewed 2,485 children and teenagers aged 3 to 14 to identify their gift preferences. The study reveals that children aged 3 to 9 are more interested in toys, while among those aged 10 to 14, technological products lead the preferences.

“Through our proprietary data panel, we continuously monitor the segment's preferences and habits, and information on which toys most appeal to children and teenagers is consolidated throughout the year, which is timely information for brand managers in the sector,” explains Ricardo Wako, country manager of Kids Corp in Brazil.


Among the preferences of the 3 to 5 year old public, toys with wheels occupy the second position, with 24% of mentions. Next come outdoor toys, with 23%; creative and scientific toys, with 22%; and, finally, electronic and digital toys, which are favorites among those aged 6 to 12, with 20%.

Among children aged 6 to 12, construction toys came in second place, with 21%; followed by toy vehicles (20%), creative and scientific toys (19%) and outdoor toys (18%). Among pre-teens aged 13 to 14, there was a tie for second place: creative and scientific toys and outdoor toys, with 18% of mentions each. Rounding out the top 5 are articulated dolls of characters or animals, with 15%.
