Gaming U18 in LatAm: the new prime time isn't just watched, it's played

Teens playing video games on phone and console

Since 2008, World Gamer's Day has been celebrated every August 29. Almost twenty years later, "gamer" no longer describes a niche with dedicated gear: today it describes the default habit of children and teenagers.

To size that shift, Kidscorp presents Gaming U18 LatAm, a report built on exclusive data from its U18 Radar platform, which surveys more than 84,000 families per year across the region. The report answers how much, how, where, and with what U18s play in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

Gaming already beats TV in all six markets measured. Mexico shows the widest gap, 60% versus 29%, and even in the tightest case, Peru, the lead holds: 44% versus 35%. The habit grows with age, from 33% among 3 to 5 year olds to 63% among 9 to 15 year olds, with a regional average close to 90 minutes a day.

The gaming session is also the longest attention window of the weekend, 91 minutes, ahead of YouTube, which reaches 78. The phone is the region's console: close to half of U18s play from their phone, and only one in five does so from a console.

Roblox leads affinity in all six countries, peaking at 45.3% among 10 to 12 year olds, closely followed by Minecraft. And the habit cuts across every socioeconomic level: 62% in the high NSE bracket, 48% in the low one.

The full report includes the country-by-country breakdown, cuts by age and socioeconomic level, device detail by market, and a formats framework for Roblox, and it's now available for download.
